Message from the Rector Fr Paul Finnerty
Welcome to the Pontifical Irish College, Rome. Since its founding in 1628, the College has been committed to the formation of Catholic leaders, fostering the spiritual, human, pastoral, and intellectual development.
Today, our mission thrives within a dynamic synodal framework, embracing three distinct yet interconnected communities of Seminarians, Clergy & Laypeople. I hope this new website gives you an insight into the life, mission, and community of the Pontifical Irish College, offering a glimpse into our rich heritage and ongoing work in formation.
As a college community, we take great joy in welcoming pilgrims and visitors from Ireland and beyond. In particular, we extend a Céad Míle Fáilte to all who wish to join us for our weekly 10:00 AM Sunday Mass, followed by tea & coffee on our loggia.

Today for the feast of St. Patrick we joined with the Irish community and pilgrims in Rome for the celebration of Mass at the Irish Franciscan College, St. Isidore’s. ⛪️
The Pontifical Irish College choir made up of seminarians and lay students animated the liturgy with music including Hail Glorious St. Patrick and the Mass parts in the Irish Language. ☘️
Rector Paul Finnerty celebrated the Mass joined by St. Isidore’s Guardian Fr Mícheál Mac Craith and priests of the Irish community in Rome. 🇻🇦
In the afternoon we were delighted to welcome to the college for a St. Patrick’s Day banquet, Irish Government Minister for justice @jimocallaghantd , Ambassador to the Holy See Frances Collins, Ambassador Patricia O’Brien to the Republic of Italy, Archbishop Kennedy of the Holy Office, Archbishop Tighe of the Dicastery for Culture, many more distinguished guests and friends. 🇻🇦🇮🇪🇮🇹
We wish all our friends at home and overseas a very happy and blessed St. Patrick’s Day. ☘️

Last weekend, our postgraduate priest community embarked on their annual retreat, led by Fr. Tim Redmond SPS, in the peaceful setting of Nemi. 🌅
It was a time of spiritual renewal, deep reflection, and fraternity, allowing us to step away from our daily routines and reconnect with God. 🙏🏻
We are grateful for Fr. Tim’s guidance and the opportunity to grow in faith together.😇

Check out some highlights from the annual Roman Retreat for priests held last week for Irish priests at the Irish College 🇮🇪
The theme of the retreat this year focused on the Jubilee of Hope 🙏🏻 Participants had the opportunity to go through the Holy Doors at each of the Papal Basilicas in Rome🇻🇦

To mark the Jubilee year we were delighted to collaborate with the Irish Embassy to the Holy See and other Irish Communities in Rome to create the Irish Pilgrims Map of Rome 🗺️
The map details 12 significant locations in Rome associated with Ireland and Irish people in history. ☘️
Accompanying the map is a digital platform with audio guides and short documentary videos of some of the sites including the Irish College. 🏫
Check out the link in the bio to access the website and download the map! 🔗🔗🔗
Thanks to @colmflynnire and his team for their fantastic work on the videos 📽️
